The opening event of Famaca’s April journey combined open reading, art activities, and student-led book sharing in a colorful school celebration.
A reading day built around participation
Famaca and Huynh Van Chinh Primary School created a space where students did more than look at books. They took part in conversation, reading, creative work, and sharing what interested them.
The variety of activities offered several entry points. One child might begin with an illustration, another with coloring, and another by listening to a friend speak about a book.

From the page to something personally created
Drawing, coloring, and making small creative pieces helped students turn inspiration from books into action. The colors across the activity tables showed that reading can continue through many forms of expression.
As their hands worked, students had more time to think about the images and stories they had encountered. It was a gentle way of adding depth to the reading experience.

“When students confidently introduce a book, they turn reading into a voice of their own.”

Confidently sharing a good book with friends
One especially valuable moment was seeing students introduce books to their friends. To retell what they had read, they needed to select, express, and connect with an audience. Reading became a form of communication.
Famaca thanks the school leadership and teachers for creating an inspiring touchpoint in the continuing School Reading Day journey.
